CALCULATION OF GPA & CGPA
Students are required to be familiar with the computation of their academic standing so that they can monitor their performance and make necessary adjustment in order to have a fulfilling academic career in the university. Students should be familiar with the following terms used in computing their academic records.
GP: GRADE POINT; is derived from the actual percentage or raw score of a given course e.g Grade A = 4 Points, Grade B = 3 Points etc.
TGP: TOTAL GRADE POINT; is derived from multiplying the grade point by the units per course and summing up the grade points for all the courses registered.
TNU: TOTAL NUMBER UNITS; is obtained by adding up all the units of courses taken by the student in the semester.
GPA: GRADE POINT AVERAGE; is the average of weighted grade obtained by dividing the TGP by the TNU for a semester.

CGPA: CUMULATIVE GRADE POINT AVERAGE; is the update average of the grade points earned by the student in programme of study. It is computed by adding the GPAs acquired by the student in the two semesters and then divided by 2.

From the table above, using the scale of 4 for grade A:
TNU = 21, TGP = 52
GPA = TGP/TNU = 52/21 = 2.48
CGPA = GPA(For Harmattan Semester)+GPA(For Rain Semester)/2
CGPA = (4.00+2.48)/2= 3.24 (Second CLASS UPPER)
